Your Body, Your Right! But Whose Responsibility?

“My Body, My Right.” A slogan screamed loudly on the streets, on campuses, in courts and on social media.

My body. My right. My choice.

Fine. But whose responsibility?

You claim total autonomy over your body. No parent, No family, No society has the right to question your choices. You celebrate high-risk behaviour as liberation. You dismiss caution as patriarchy. You glorify recklessness as empowerment. But when consequences follow, you rush to the police station. You demand protection from the police and law courts! You scream at the media for justice. You expect parents to stand by you, even though you earlier condemned them as oppressive. Why? If your body is entirely your right — should it not also be entirely your responsibility? Freedom without accountability is not empowerment. It is moral infantilism. No civilised society justifies assault. Criminals must be punished. But does personal liberty exempt anyone from personal responsibility? If you insist on “My Body, My Right,” have the courage to add — “My Responsibility.” Or stop pretending that autonomy means immunity from consequences. If you can say that openly, then perhaps your feminism can be taken seriously! Or else will be dismissed as an infantile, phoney posturing!
